This is due to a higher content of chromium used in the alloying of stainless steel pipes 1.4301. Generally, any steel containing chromium content of more than 10% of its total weight for e.g. - Stainless Steel ASTM A312 tp304 is capable of forming a passivated oxide layer, during oxidation or in the presence of oxygen in the atmosphere.
Since Stainless Steel 304 Pipes are an alloy in which the content of chromium falls between a minimum of 18% to a maximum of 20%, the metal forms a self-repairing passivated oxide layer on the surface of the pipes. Additionally, the higher content of chromium used to alloy the stainless steel 304 seamless pipes are what provides resistance against oxidizing solutions up to a temperature of about 176°F such as nitric acid, up to 55% weight.
