1.4418 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel grade which usually are preheat threated. This grade is written as 1.4418 or X4CrNiMo16-5-1 according to EN norm. 1.4418 grade material has a good corrosion resistance and many people can compare this grade with 630 (1.4542) grade stainless steel. 1.4418 stainless steel usually heat threated in two different heat threatment conditions after production. These heat threatment conditions are QT780 and QT900.
Steel grade 1.4418 (also called 165M and SS2387) is a high strength stainless steel with high strength , toughness and very good fatigue resistance. It has good weldability and the strength and toughness are maintained after welding.
