Carbon steel plates are usually considered as steels that do not contain too many alloying steel elements. The general elements are C, Mn, P, S and Si, except for Al, Cr, Ni, Mo and V, which have no lower limit.
As a corrosion and wear resistant steel, carbon steel plate is well suited for applications where pressure and environmental stresses are required for outdoor use. Other benefits of carbon steel plate include.
The versatility of carbon steel sheet is available in a wide range of thicknesses and widths compared to other materials
Carbon steel sheet has excellent ductility
Economical alternative to aluminum or stainless steel
Ductile and easy to fabricate
Can be galvanized for corrosion protection
Depending on the carbon content and strength, carbon steel sheets have different grades.
There are low, medium and high carbon steel plates. The higher the carbon content, the more durable and stronger the plate will be. There are further sub-categories depending on thickness and application as well as the formation process. Typically carbon steel plates are available in thicknesses from 0.4 mm to 80 mm, widths from 1000 mm to 45000 mm and lengths up to 18 meters. However, the lengths are customizable, which helps customers to put them into various applications, and they can also be used to manufacture cold rolled steel coils.
Low carbon steel plate: Carbon content of 0.06% to 0.25%, also known as low carbon steel plate.
Medium carbon steel plate: C content of 0.25% to 0.55%.
High carbon steel plate: 0.55% ~ 1.0%, also known as hard steel plate.
With the increase of carbon content, the hardness of steel plate increases.

Carbon steel plate includes almost all common standards for steel plates.
1. ASTM A36 plate - the most common carbon steel plate standard
2. ASTM A283 Grades A, B, C - also the most common material used in carbon construction
3. ASTM A516 - for boiler, vessel steel plates
4. ASTM A537 - For fusion welded pressure vessel and structural steel plates in heat treated carbon steel plate.
5. ASTM A573 - A carbon manganese silicon structural steel plate.
6. ASTM A572 - ASTM A572 plate mechanical strength is higher than A36. where the weight is lighter.
7. ASTM A737 - low alloy steel plate used for boilers, pressure vessels.
Thus carbon steel plate has wide coverage for different types of steel plates in different industries.
